Gwendolyne Fourniol is a 22 year old Filipino-French model, teacher and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World Philippines 2022.

Gwendolyne Bolivar Fourniol was born on June 11, 2000, in France to a Filipina mother, Sim Fourniol (née Bolivar) from Himamaylan, Negros Occidental, and a French father, Thierry Fourniol.  She moved to the Philippines when she was 18.

Her mother is currently working as a nurse in London, while her father is working as a senior analyst in Belgium.

Fourniol is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in economics from Oxford Brookes University in London, England. She is fluent in three languages, Tagalog, French, and English, and tutors Filipinos in French.

Fourniol’s journey in the pageantry world began when her mother encouraged her to move to the Philippines to compete. She made her pageant debut on stage during Miss World Philippines 2021, where she finished as a Top 15 semifinalist.

Fourniol did not give up and joined the Miss World Philippines 2022 pageant, where she won the title, beating 35 other contestants to take home the crown.

She also won Best in Evening Gown, Love Your Skin Award, and Miss Silka awards.

Social Advocacy

Fourniol is an advocate for equal access to education, especially among underprivileged children. Fourniol believes that education is the greatest weapon against poverty.

As part of her advocacy work on behalf of Miss World’s Beauty with a Purpose programme, she works with the Educational Research and Development Assistance Foundation, a non-profit organization that sends underprivileged children to school.

Here mother is a beneficiary of ERDAF, and was able to obtain a degree in Psychology from the Philippine Women’s University. “If it were not for ERDA, I wouldn’t exist, and my mother would still be living in poverty in Negros,” Gwen said.

Fourniol will represent the Philippines at the Miss World 2023 pageant, where she aims to promote her advocacy and inspire others to pursue education. With her talent, passion, and dedication, Fourniol is sure to make her country proud.
